Job Description

Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Paraprofessional to join our vibrant educational community. In this vital role, you will work closely with students who have diverse learning needs, including those with developmental disabilities, autism, and other special needs. Your energy and enthusiasm will help create an inclusive classroom environment where every child feels supported, engaged, and empowered to succeed. As a key team member, you will assist teachers in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), facilitating classroom activities, and fostering positive behavior management strategies. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children while gaining valuable experience in special education settings. Responsibilities Support classroom teachers by assisting with lesson planning, curriculum development, and instructional activities tailored to students' individual needs. Work directly with students to promote literacy, math skills, communication (including American Sign Language if applicable), and social-emotional development. Implement behavior management techniques to foster positive behavior and classroom order, ensuring a safe learning environment for all students. Assist students with daily routines such as toileting, feeding, and mobility, especially in early childhood or preschool settings. Use specialized knowledge in deaf education or working with individuals with disabilities to support effective communication and learning strategies. Help monitor student progress through observations and documentation aligned with IEP goals; participate in team meetings to review student development. Maintain a nurturing environment by providing age-appropriate childcare and toddler care when needed, including Montessori or preschool activities. Qualifications Prior experience working with children in classroom settings, including preschool or early childhood education environments. Knowledge of childhood development principles and classroom management techniques. Familiarity with special education practices, IEP implementation, and behavior management strategies. Proficiency in communication skills; experience with American Sign Language or deaf education is a plus. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorder. Experience in curriculum development, lesson planning, and literacy or math instruction is highly desirable. Certification or training related to childcare, Montessori methods, or early childhood education is preferred. Pay:
$17.77 - $17.80 per hour
