Job Description
Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Step into a vital role providing meaningful support for students as an Orthopedic Impairment Assistant in a dynamic school environment. This full-time contract position spans the school year, placing you alongside an OI Specialist to help monitor and facilitate student mobility, equipment use, and ongoing training. Collaboration is at the heart of this position—you'll work in various classrooms and settings, adapting to student needs while delivering specialized care.
Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
CPI Certification (required) Training in assistive technology and mobility devices (required) CNA or medical background (preferred) Experience in California schools (preferred) Bilingual Spanish proficiency (required) Strong administrative and organizational skillsCore Responsibilities:
Assist the OI Specialist in overseeing students using equipment such as walkers and wheelchairs Monitor and help ensure safe, effective use of adaptive and assistive devices Provide one-on-one or small group support to enhance student participation and independence Support training for students and staff relating to mobility equipment Adapt to an itinerant schedule, traveling between educational sites as needed Maintain accurate records and contribute to documentation for student progress and needs Foster a positive and inclusive environment, supporting the wellbeing of students with physical challengesRole Details:
