General Definition of Work:

To develop and implement an educational program that will effectively provide the best possible education for each child

Essential Functions:

Effectively implement all responsibilities associated with being a special education student case manager Implement instruction, services and supports in accordance with all federal, state and local regulations pertaining to special education. Competently implement comprehensive and individualized programming for students identified as eligible for special education in the area of autism To guide the learning activities of each student and to provide learning situations suitable for each student To provide for the safety, health and well-being of each pupil in any situation in which students are committed to the teacher's care To maintain the classroom and atmosphere which encourages learning To evaluate each student and to report progress to parents To become informed about and to comply with the policies and regulations of the school division and of the local school To maintain the neatness and proper care of the classroom, equipment and materials To keep essential records necessary for the efficient operation of the school To keep abreast of recent developments in education and to show evidence of continuing professional growth To contribute to the success of the school by maintaining interest in and developing knowledge of the total school program To participate in the decision-making process of the school, particularly those decisions related to curriculum content or change To maintain a cooperative attitude toward all school personnel To serve as a public relations agent for the school and the school system To cooperate with approved community groups in matters related to the welfare of the students To perform such duties as are necessary for the efficient and successful operation of the school system To perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or his/her designee Make reports to the principal relative to student injuries, hazardous or dangerous conditions prevailing where students are engaged in activities known or suspected child abuse, and other areas that normally concern the teacher and school officials Other duties as apparent or assigned

Education and Job Experience:

Compensation will be based on degree and experience as described in the Amherst County Public School Teachers' Salary Scale Schedule

License/Endorsements:

Valid certification to meet state requirements with specific endorsement in the area to which assigned.

Contract Period:

10 months
