Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract A Special Education Teacher position is available for the 26-27 school year in Clam Gulch, AK. This full-time, contract role offers an excellent opportunity to support students with special needs in both secondary and elementary educational settings. The position is itinerant, working across two schools: a high school and an elementary school, providing diverse teaching experiences.
Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to the unique needs of students with disabilities. Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and families to ensure inclusive and effective learning environments. Monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly. Participate in meetings, assessments, and professional development related to special education services. Travel between Seward High and Moose Pass Elementary as part of the itinerant role, maintaining effective communication across all sites.
Qualifications:
Valid Special Education teaching certification. Experience working with a range of disabilities in K-12 settings. Ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse learning needs. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Willingness to travel between assigned schools regularly. Preference for candidates open to relocating for a long-term teaching commitment.
Location:
This role is based in Clam Gulch, Alaska, serving nearby schools in Seward and Moose Pass. Travel within the region is expected as part of the itinerant format.
