Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity shaping young minds and making a lasting difference as a Special Education Teacher! This position offers a unique chance to work in an Intensive Learning Center, supporting students with significant behavioral needs in a self-contained setting. The assignment runs from August 10, 2026, to May 20, 2027, and spans a 37.5-hour work week. Five immediate openings are available, creating a collaborative environment with fellow dedicated professionals. Pending licensure candidates will also be considered.
Key Qualifications:
Active (or pending) New Mexico Special Education licensure Experience with high behavioral needs preferred Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) Passion for adapting curriculum and instructional techniques Excellent communication and crisis intervention skills Commitment to creating an inclusive, structured, and nurturing classroom Collaborative mindset to work with staff, families, and multidisciplinary teams
Role Duties:
Deliver academic and behavioral instruction to students in a self-contained classroom Develop, monitor, and update IEPs according to student needs and regulatory standards Employ evidence-based strategies for managing challenging behaviors Collect data and assess progress to adjust instruction and interventions Foster a safe, positive environment that empowers students Engage in regular communication with parents, caregivers, and school staff Participate in team meetings, training sessions, and school initiatives Imagine playing a critical role in a close-knit, supportive educational setting where your expertise and compassion will have a true impact.
