Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a difference in the lives of young learners as a Special Education Teacher in South Austin for the 2026-2027 school year. You'll support approximately 30 students from early childhood through 6th grade in a resource setting focused on Math, fostering academic growth and confidence in every child. Working Monday through Friday from 7:45 AM to 3:30 PM, you'll collaborate with caring professionals and help shape an inclusive school community.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Texas Educator License with EC-6 Special Education and Core/Generalist endorsements. Strong background in facilitating Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings, with the ability to participate actively and contribute valuable insights. Demonstrated experience with resource or inclusion settings, especially with diverse learners in elementary grades. Commitment to upholding the school's professional dress code, including modest attire, natural hair colors, limited earrings, and covered tattoos. Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset.
Primary Responsibilities:
Deliver targeted math instruction to students in grades EC-6, adapting lessons to meet individual IEP goals and diverse learning needs. Attend and contribute meaningfully in ARD meetings, developing and updating student Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Track and report student progress while maintaining accurate records in compliance with state and district guidelines. Foster a supportive, positive classroom atmosphere that respects all abilities and backgrounds. Work closely with colleagues, support staff, and families to ensure every student receives optimal support.
