Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into the upcoming academic year as a Special Education Teacher, supporting young learners in a dynamic school environment near Essexville, MI. This contract opportunity is ideal for dedicated educators passionate about fostering growth and achievement for kindergarten through second-grade students. With two positions available, you'll play a pivotal role in guiding a caseload of up to 8 students, using your expertise to help meet their unique learning needs.
Position Details:
Contract duration: August 11, 2026 - June 4, 2027 Weekly commitment: 37.5 hours Student age group: Kindergarten to 2nd grade Manage a caseload of up to 8 students
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
Valid teaching certification in Special Education Previous experience working with elementary-aged children with diverse learning needs preferred Strong classroom management and communication skills Commitment to individualized instruction and inclusive education practices Ability to adapt curriculum to meet each child's goals and IEP requirements Positive, collaborative approach to working with colleagues and families
Primary Duties:
Design and implement personalized learning plans aligned with students' Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Foster an inclusive, supportive classroom environment for K-2 students Work closely with general education teachers, therapists, and support staff Track student progress and maintain accurate records Engage parents and guardians in their child's growth and progression Adapt instructional methods to address different learning styles and challenges This is a unique chance to make a meaningful difference during a pivotal stage in young learners' development.
