Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Step into a pivotal role supporting young learners as a Special Education Teacher with a focus on Kindergarten through 2nd grade. Two dedicated educators are needed for a contract position beginning August 11, 2026, and continuing through June 4, 2027. This opportunity involves working 37.5 hours per week with a manageable caseload of up to eight students. The position is based near Freeland, MI, and is ideal for those passionate about guiding students with diverse learning needs.
Qualifications/Experience:
Valid Special Education Teacher certification for the state Demonstrated experience working with K-2 students in a special education setting Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and IEP processes Effective communication skills with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams Ability to create an inclusive, positive, and supportive learning environment Previous experience managing small caseloads preferred
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for each student on your caseload Deliver targeted instruction based on students' unique learning profiles Adapt curriculum materials to meet a variety of learning needs Foster social, emotional, and academic growth through evidence-based strategies Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, therapists, and administrators Communicate regularly with families about student progress and goals Maintain accurate and timely documentation according to school and state policies
