Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a difference in the lives of middle and high school students by providing cross-categorical special education services in a supportive, inclusive setting. Step into a contract position focused on serving students with a range of mild-to-moderate disabilities—including learning disabilities, emotional or behavioral disorders, and mild intellectual disabilities. In this dynamic role, you'll collaborate alongside dedicated professionals committed to delivering individualized education to ensure every student's success.
Qualifications:
Active Wisconsin Cross-Categorical Special Education certification (License #2801) required Demonstrated experience working with students on the autism spectrum At least one year of recent experience as a Special Education Teacher in a school environment Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to create and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Understanding of best practices in cross-categorical instruction for diverse learners
Key Responsibilities:
Provide direct instruction, support, and accommodations to middle and high school students with varying disabilities within a cross-categorical setting Develop and adapt lesson plans to meet the individual academic, social, and behavioral needs of each student Work collaboratively with general education teachers, related service providers, and families to foster a cohesive learning environment Administer and interpret assessments to inform instruction and track student progress Manage classroom environments to encourage engagement, autonomy, and growth Maintain accurate, timely documentation in compliance with all district and state requirements Participate in IEP meetings and support families as they navigate special education processes Experience the rewarding impact of guiding diverse learners toward their full potential.
