Job Description

Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Make a positive impact in the lives of young learners by taking on a key role as an elementary special education teacher in a self-contained classroom setting. This full-time contract position supports students in kindergarten through 3rd grade, focusing on individualized learning approaches and creating an inclusive, nurturing classroom environment.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Valid Multi-Categorical Special Education certification in South Carolina (required) Previous experience teaching or supporting students in self-contained special education settings is highly valued Strength in developing and implementing IEPs tailored to diverse learning needs Strong collaboration skills to work closely with families, support staff, and other educators Patience, creativity, and dedication for fostering a positive, adaptive learning space
Key Responsibilities:
Teach and support a small group of elementary students with varying special education needs Design lesson plans aligned with IEP goals and South Carolina standards Regularly assess student progress, adjusting instruction as needed to maximize student growth Foster a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom environment Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, successes, and challenges Collaborate with support professionals and administration to ensure students receive appropriate services and accommodations Step into a role where your specialized skills and passion for education will truly make a difference.
