Qualifications:
Valid Teaching Certificate with a ZG endorsement / Special Education endorsement, or willing to obtain within 2 years, required Additional endorsement in Mathematics (EX), preferred Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively and collaboratively with colleagues, administrators, students, and parents Strong written communication skills with attention to detail Willingness to be trained in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention techniques Demonstrated familiarity with community agencies, resources, and transition planning Proficiency in Google Suite applications (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, etc.) and Canvas LMS, preferred Must be reliable and punctual with an excellent work-related attendance record Ability to withstand the strain of the position Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable
Responsibilities:
Provides effective individualized instruction to address the academic, social and physical needs to middle school level students with disabilities Facilitate student progress toward meeting grade level mathematics standards Work cooperatively with administration, multidisciplinary team, general and special education colleagues, families and agencies to provide positive behavior support for assigned students Collaborate with colleagues from both the Special Education Department and Mathematics Department Provide assessment, instruction, and maintain accurate records to meet quality and compliance standards established for district, state and federal rules, regulations and procedures Conduct IEP's, ensure accommodations are complied with and met and IEPT timelines are attained Help develop and implement Behavior Intervention Plans Utilize Nonviolent Crisis Intervention strategies with dealing with inappropriate behaviors Such alternatives to the above responsibilities as the administration may find appropriate and acceptable This position is classified as Exempt Employment is contingent upon disclosure in accordance with PA-189. Ability to withstand the strains and successfully manage the responsibilities of the position. Must demonstrate reliability and punctuality, with a strong record of consistent attendance. Regular and dependable presence during school hours is essential. All staff members are expected to maintain a professional and respectful attitude toward one another at all times.
