This position combines classroom teaching with administrative responsibilities, ensuring a seamless and enriching experience for students, families, and staff alike. You will be empowered to develop engaging curricula, implement effective classroom management strategies, and support development initiatives. Responsibilities Design and implement comprehensive curricula that promote literacy, math skills, and social-emotional development tailored to students ages 5-12. Deliver engaging lessons that incorporate differentiated instruction to meet diverse student needs. Manage classroom environments effectively by applying behavior management techniques and maintaining a positive atmosphere conducive to learning. Collaborate with colleagues to develop lesson plans, assess student progress through standardized testing, and adapt teaching approaches accordingly. Support child welfare by ensuring safe childcare practices, promoting childhood development, and fostering a nurturing environment for all children. Oversee administrative tasks such as scheduling, record keeping, parent communication, and compliance with ISBE. Participate in ongoing professional development related to special education, classroom management, and curriculum development. Qualifications Proven experience working with children in special education settings; special education experience required. Strong background in lesson planning, and classroom management techniques. Knowledge of autism spectrum disorder, supportive strategies and curriculum. Familiarity with special education needs and intervention strategies to support diverse learners. Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with parents, staff, and community partners. Demonstrated ability to manage classrooms effectively while fostering a positive learning environment. Illinois teaching certification (LBS1) and Illinois Administrative licenses required.
