Participates in multidisciplinary task forces, committees and projects, demonstrating team spirit and ability to work with different internal customers. Clinical management staff provide clinical supervision. Provide in-service training and maintenance of clinical standards. May provide leadership for hospital-wide clinically oriented committees.Responsibilities:
Oversees specialty medication workflows, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant processing across intake, dispensing, patient communication, and distribution. Directs and participates in prescription processing activities, provides coaching, manages workflow priorities, and supports performance improvement. Manages receiving, storing, and inventory tracking for temperature-sensitive products including creation, validation and maintenance of URAC compliant shipping procedures Serves as the primary responsible party for URAC Specialty Pharmacy Accreditation, maintaining adherence to all standards and coordinating survey readiness, documentation, and internal audits. Recommends optimizations to specialty workflow processes - monitoring performance, identifying bottlenecks, and ensuring consistent documentation. Participates in creation and maintenance of specialty pharmacy policies, procedures, and SOPs Supports quality and safety through issue identification, risk monitoring, workflow evaluation, complaint review, and patient satisfaction tracking. Co‑leads onboarding and ongoing training for technicians and support staff, ensuring competency in specialty workflows, documentation standards, and patient communication. Collaborates with the Pharmacy Manager on staffing plans, workload‑based scheduling, and coverage needs. Evaluates staff clinical and operational performance in specialty pharmacy areas and makes recommendations for personnel actions when appropriate. Acts as a key operational point of contact for internal teams and external partners to troubleshoot issues and support consistent, high‑quality patient care. This includes insurance navigation, patient financial assistance, and supply chain management. Acts as a liaison with the medical staff and nursing concerning prescriptions, patient reactions, medication errors and complaints. Assists in preparing reports necessary in documenting the department's operation. Attends meeting as required and participates on committees as directed. Ensures that the professional pharmacy staff demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient's age. Understands and adheres to the Medical Center's Code of Conduct. Familiar with Mission, Vision, and Value Statements.Other Duties:
Maintains awareness of trends in pharmaceutical activities by reading pharmaceutical and related literature and by participating in professional continuing education programs. Performs other duties as assigned to support the overall objectives of the department and organization.Position Qualifications:
Prior managerial/supervisory experience in a specialty pharmacy, clinic, outpatient or community pharmacy setting. (Preferred) Expertise in specialty therapeutic areas (e.g., oncology, rheumatology) and familiarity with insurance/reimbursement processes. (Preferred) Proven knowledge in obtaining & maintaining URAC specialty pharmacy accreditation & Expertise in HRSA regulations, 340B program requirements, and compliance. (Preferred) Good oral and written communication skills. Good interpersonal skills. Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.Education:
Graduation from a 5-year program at an approved college of pharmacy or equivalent.Current NJ Pharmacist License Job Setting/Physical Demands:
Outpatient Pharmacy.
