Job Summary Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Specimen Collector, where your expertise will play a vital role in patient care and diagnostic accuracy. In this energetic and detail-oriented position, you will be responsible for collecting, processing, and managing various biological specimens with precision and professionalism. Your efforts will directly contribute to accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans, supporting our commitment to exceptional healthcare delivery. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop your skills in laboratory procedures, clinical techniques, and patient interaction within a fast-paced medical environment. Duties Collect Urine specimens Ensure all specimen collection procedures adhere strictly to aseptic techniques and laboratory safety protocols. Prepare specimens for laboratory testing by labeling, processing, and documenting accurately in accordance with medical terminology and hospital standards. Maintain detailed records of specimen collection activities, ensuring chain-of-custody documentation is complete and accurate. Assist with laboratory management tasks such as inventory control of supplies and ensuring proper storage conditions for specimens. Communicate effectively with patients, healthcare providers, and laboratory staff to coordinate specimen collection schedules and clarify testing requirements. Follow all safety guidelines related to physiology knowledge, anatomy understanding, and specialized procedures like spinal taps or cardiac catheterization when applicable. Skills Strong knowledge of laboratory management principles and laboratory procedures. Proficiency in laboratory techniques Excellent aseptic technique to prevent contamination during specimen collection and processing. Clinical laboratory experience with familiarity in research or hospital settings is highly desirable. Solid understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and veterinary terminology if applicable. Ability to perform basic life support (BLS) procedures when necessary for patient safety during specimen collection.
Pay:
$18.50 - $20.00 per hour
