Job Description

SPED Director Position Category Teaching - High School Position Type Director Posting Start Date 4/16/2026 Posting End Date 8/7/2026 Position Start Date 8/13/2026 School District Indianola City, State Indianola , OK United States Description Indianola Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Special Education Director to lead and oversee all aspects of the district's special education program. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that all students with disabilities receive high-quality services in compliance with state and federal regulations. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative leader who is committed to supporting students, staff, and families while promoting an inclusive and student-centered learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee the district's special education programs (PreK-12) Ensure compliance with IDEA, state, and federal regulations Supervise and support special education staff and related service providers Coordinate IEP development, implementation, and compliance Provide professional development for staff on special education practices and procedures Manage special education budgets, reporting, and documentation Serve as a liaison between the district, families, and outside agencies Monitor student progress and program effectiveness Assist with state reporting and audits Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree (Master's degree in Special Education) Valid Oklahoma teaching certificate with Special Education certification Experience in special education instruction and/or leadership Strong knowledge of special education law, compliance, and best practices Excellent communication, organization, and leadership skills Preferred Qualifications Previous experience as a Special Education Director or coordinator Experience with IEP systems, compliance monitoring, and state reporting Background in rural or small school settings Include the following materials with your application: Cover Letter Include the following materials with your application: Resume Include the following materials with your application: Transcripts Include the following materials with your application: Reference List Include the following materials with your application: Letter(s) of Reference Include the following materials with your application: Teaching/Administration Certification Application Instructions Please send to nbinam@indianola.k12.ok.us and pgordon@indianola.k12.ok.us Contact Name nathan binam Contact Email nbinam@indianola.k12.ok.us
