Job Description

Overview:
Allegro School is seeking a passionate and collaborative Speech Therapist to support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This full-time role focuses on delivering evidence-based, individualized speech-language pathology services within a multidisciplinary team to help students achieve meaningful communication, social interaction, and functional communication goals. The ideal candidate will have experience in assessment and intervention for children with ASD, including augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), social communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive speech-language assessments for students with ASD, interpret results, and develop individualized Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Plan, implement, and monitor evidence-based, student-centered intervention targeting articulation, language development, social communication, pragmatic language, fluency, voice, and AAC.
  • Collaborate with teachers, behavior analysts, occupational therapists, and families to design and implement integrated supports that promote communication across settings.
  • Provide direct therapy to students mostly in one-on-one formats, using data-driven progress monitoring and ongoing modification of goals.
  • Support and train classroom staff and families in strategies to facilitate communication, AAC use, and social interaction in daily routines.
  • Conduct screeners, progress monitoring, and outcome measures; maintain accurate and timely documentation in student records, IEPs, and school databases.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, team conferences, and professional development activities; advocate for student needs and appropriate services.
  • Implement and monitor AAC systems and ensure device maintenance and training.
  • Address feeding and swallowing concerns as appropriate or coordinate with related service providers.
  • Stay current with best practices in ASD and speech-language pathology, participate in professional development, and contribute to program improvement.
Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Current state license/licensure or eligibility to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist; valid state ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) preferred.
  • NJ Department of Education Certification is essential.
  • Experience working with children with ASD, including early intervention and school-based settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement evidence-based interventions for articulation, language, social communication, and AAC.
  • Familiarity with IEP processes, progress reporting, and data-driven decision making.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Comfort with data collection apps and school-based documentation systems.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and with diverse families.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple students and priorities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with assistive technology and AAC systems
  • Knowledge of behavioral supports and strategies to align speech-language goals with behavior plans.
Pay:
$100,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
