Job Description

Overview Etchegaray Farms is seeking a Spray Foreman to help run our Kern County operation. This individual will be involved in all aspects of our farming operation. Applicants must have a minimum of 5 years of working in farming or agriculture. The Spray Foreman oversees and coordinates daily pesticide application operations, ensuring full compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. This position provides direct supervision to spray rig operators and field personnel, and is responsible for effective planning, scheduling, training, equipment oversight, and accurate recordkeeping related to pesticide applications. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are essential to ensure efficient operations and adherence to established standards. Duties/Responsibilities Responsibilities will also include monitoring pesticide recommendations for all ranches and varieties, working closely with management, collaborating with applicators to minimize pest damage and maximize productivity and oversee spray applications to ensure safety and accuracy. Coordinate with Irrigation Team and Labor Supervisors to develop complex spray schedules, ensuring applications do not interfere with irrigation or other field activities. Calibrate sprayers and chemical application equipment to execute the recommendation as written. This includes knowledge on calibration calculations including foliar applications, spreaders, and banded herbicide applications. Maintain a "hands-on" presence by being on-site during applications to supervise other leads and operators. Provide clear instructions to all personnel in regard to mixing, ensuring that safety is maximized at all times. Ensure all required personal protective equipment (PPE) is being used and safety protocols are in proper order for spray operators Assist in managing all chemical inventory and ensuring that receipt of materials matches orders and recommendations. Responsible for weed control across all ground, including requesting recommendations and identifying materials that are best fit based on observations and PHI. Build and maintain positive relationships with internal departments, chemical suppliers, and necessary 3rd parties. Coordinate personnel management and issues with Human Resources department. Required Skills/Abilities QAL or PAC License preferred.
Language:
Bilingual (Spanish/English) is required. Must be willing and able to work early mornings and long shifts, as required by application timing and safety protocols. Must be detail oriented - including recordkeeping, time sheets, and safety documentation. Must be able to drive farming equipment and attachments - tractors, ATV's, 5th wheel trailers, air-o-fans, foliage cutters, dusters, & herbicide rigs. Must be able to follow our Fleet Safety Policies.
