Sr. Estimator - Heavy Civil The Woodlands, TX Full-TimeOn-Site$130,000 - $170,000 /yr Posted April 16, 2026 A well-established heavy civil general contractor is seeking a Senior Estimator to play a key role in securing new private and public work. This position is responsible for leading estimating strategy, overseeing detailed takeoffs, and producing accurate and competitive bids across a wide range of heavy civil projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical estimating experience, the ability to lead bid efforts, and a clear understanding of how to communicate cost assumptions, execution strategies, and project risks throughout the bid process. Key Responsibilities:

Review and evaluate prospective projects to determine bid viability and pursuit strategy Lead and participate in estimating strategy and bid planning meetings Perform and oversee detailed quantity takeoffs and scope reviews Prepare and manage estimates using HCSS and supporting takeoff spreadsheets Develop cost analyses including labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and overhead Review construction documents to fully understand project scope and efficiencies Attend pre bid meetings and site visits as required Maintain accurate notes and documentation from pre bid meetings and site walks Explain estimate assumptions, manpower projections, and production rates Maintain estimating databases and historical cost information Evaluate alternative construction methods to identify cost effective solutions Coordinate with project managers and operations teams during preconstruction Lead bid reviews and final pricing decisions Manage subcontractor outreach, scope review, negotiations, and contract execution Maintain professionalism and integrity throughout the bidding process Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience 10+ years of experience as a Lead or Senior Estimator Experience in estimating projects ranging from 1M to 25M plus Heavy civil estimating background, including: Site preparation and earthwork Mass and structural excavation Underground utilities and stormwater systems Roadway, paving, and structural concrete work Proficiency with HCSS, Bluebeam, and Office 365 required Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills Ability to manage changing priorities and deadlines Benefits Salary $130-170k base Annual bonus Medical, Dental, Vision 401k w/ match Profit sharing Vehicle allowance PTO Holiday pay For this position you must be currently authorized to work in the United States.
