HS Diploma or Equivalent, 5+ yrs exp in manufacturing with precision part inspection, CMM programming, mmechanical inspection and GD&TPosition OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented Sr. Metrology Quality Technician to lead dimensional inspection and metrology activities supporting manufacturing and quality engineering. This role supports new product development and metrology investigations, with early involvement in drawing reviews, GD&T analysis, and measurement capability. The position is highly technical and hands-on with CMM and vision systems.

Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop, validate and maintain CMM programs and measurement routines for production and engineering using tools such as PC-DMIS, Zeiss Calypso and Mitutoyo MCOSMOS.Perform complex dimensional and mechanical inspections on parts and assemblies using CMMs, Faro arms, optical comparators, vision systems, laser scanners and tactile probing systems.

Execute first article inspections (FAI) and PPAP packages; generate inspection reports, nonconformance records, and measurement data packages for internal and customer review.

Perform surface roughness, roundness and profile measurements using profilometers, roundness testers and interferometry equipment as required.

Set up and use hand gages and precision instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, gage blocks) and maintain traceability to standards.

Manage metrology lab calibration activities, maintain calibration records, and ensure measurement uncertainty is understood and documented per lab procedures.

Analyze measurement data using statistical tools (SPC, Minitab, Excel) to identify trends, support root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions (CAPA).Support and perform quality audits and compliance activities to ISO 9001/AS9100 and NADCAP requirements; implement corrective and preventive actions.

Design/maintain inspection fixtures and measurement jigs to improve throughput and repeatability.

Lead continuous improvement efforts in measurement and inspection processes using Lean tools and process improvement methodologies.

Train, mentor and provide technical guidance to junior metrology technicians and manufacturing personnel on measurement techniques and equipment use.

Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to support engineering change activities, manufacturing transfers and ERP data updates related to inspection requirements and measurement results.

QualificationsHigh School diploma or equivalent required. AS degree in relevant field not required but desireable5+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing with precision part inspectionRequired skills: CMM Programming, Metrology, Mechanical Inspection, Technician-level troubleshooting, Manufacturing and Quality support.

Practical experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM) and tactile probingExperience with portable measurement systems and toolsWorking knowledge of GD&T and the ability to interpret engineering drawings for inspection planning.

Knowledge of quality management systems ISO 9001 and AS9100Strong data analysis skills using SPC, Minitab and Excel; capable of performing root cause analysis and driving CAPA.Experience with inspection fixture design, metrology lab management and process improvement/Lean initiatives.

Proficiency with ERP systems for inspection and nonconformance documentation is desirable.

Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
