Job Type:
Full-Time Job Summary Henke Development Group is seeking a Senior Staff Accountant to support the CFO in maintaining accurate financial records across multiple real estate development and operating entities. This role is responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, project accounting, construction inventory tracking, and month-end close activities. The ideal candidate is an experienced, detail-oriented accounting professional with a strong understanding of accrual accounting, job cost tracking, and multi-entity reporting in a real estate development environment. This position is based in our Zionsville, Indiana office. Job Responsibilities Manage full-cycle accounts payable, including vendor setup, invoice review, coding, and payment processing Assist with accounts receivable tracking, billings, and collections Prepare and post journal entries for multiple entities and development projects Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes Reconcile bank accounts, general ledger accounts, and balance sheet accounts Track development and construction costs by project, phase, and cost category Maintain and reconcile construction inventory, including materials, work-in-progress (WIP), and capitalized project costs Assist with inventory controls, documentation, and periodic physical inventory reviews as applicable Support job cost reporting, cost-to-complete analysis, and budget variance analysis Assist with capitalization of development costs in accordance with GAAP Maintain accurate financial records and supporting schedules Support audit, tax, and lender reporting requests Work closely with the CFO on accounting, reporting, and special projects Ensure compliance with company policies, internal controls, and GAAP Perform additional accounting duties as assigned Job Requirements / Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required 4-7 years of accounting experience, preferably in real estate development or construction Strong understanding of accrual basis accounting and GAAP Demonstrated experience with general ledger accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable Experience with construction job cost accounting, WIP, or development cost tracking preferred Experience using accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar systems preferred Strong Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, and financial analysis High attention to detail with a strong commitment to accuracy and deadlines Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills Ability to handle confidential information with discretion Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an in-office environment Benefits Health, dental, and vision insurance Paid time off and holidays Professional growth opportunities within a growing real estate development firm Collaborative, in-office work environment
