Position:
Staff Accountant Job Description:
The Staff Accountant (SA) is responsible for accounting and bookkeeping activities for the organization. The SA is tasked with keeping financial and accounting records updated, preparing reports and spreadsheets, analyzing data, reconciling bank accounts, calculating tax payments and filing tax returns. In addition, the SA is responsible for preparing budgets, preparing financial statements, processing transactions like accounts payable and receivable, processing loan payments, cash disbursements, expense vouchers and receipts. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills, and careful attention to detail. The SA must be very comfortable with computers, including Microsoft Office products. Familiarity of QuickBooks and other accounting programs a plus.
Recommended Years of Experience:
3+ years of experience in a progressive finance and/or accounting department preferred.
Responsibilities:
Provide accounting and bookkeeping activities within accounting/finance department; Prepare and maintain accounting documents and records; Record daily financial and accounting transactions (e.g. sales, receipts, purchases, etc.); Prepare bank deposits, general ledger postings and reconcile bank statements; Reconcile financial accounts and provide financial reports in a timely manner; Research accounting problems or discrepancies and rectify the situation; and Prepares accurate and detailed financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information. Qualifications/Skills Associates or Bachelor's degree required; Must be able to work day shift, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday; Proven accounting experience as a Bookkeeper or Accountant; Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP); Advanced knowledge of computers including MS Office products (Excel), database and accounting software required; Excellent communication and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail; and Motivated self-starter.
