Job Summary:
Apex Waste Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Staff Accountant to join our growing finance team. This role is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, maintaining compliance with internal controls, and assisting with month-end and year-end close processes. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and has strong organizational skills, integrity, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and post journal entries andmaintainthe general ledger Assistwith monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies Support accounts payableand accountsreceivable processes as needed Assistwith fixed asset tracking and depreciation schedules Prepare and analyze financial reports and supporting schedules Support budgeting and forecasting activities Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies Assistwith internal and external audit requests Monitor andmaintainstrong internal controls Identifyopportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldrequired 2-5years of accounting experience preferred Experience in transportation,logistics, construction, or waste industry a plus
Skills & Competencies:
Strong understanding of GAAP principles Proficiencyin Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP preferred) Experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, Sage, or similar) Strong analytical and problem-solving skills High levelof accuracy and attention to detail Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Excellent written and verbal communication skills Team-oriented with a proactive mindset
Working Conditions:
Full-time position, Monday through Friday Travel 10% In Office Frequent use of a computerandphone
Compensation & Benefits:
