Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly detailed and motivated Staff Accountant to join our Accounting team. This role is responsible for ensuring best practices across the organization while capturing, organizing, and reporting inventory transactions and balances. The Staff Accountant plays a critical role in the reconciliation and reporting of company inventory, supporting the monthly financial close process, and maintaining general ledger and balance sheet accounts. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver who can work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Responsibilities:
Design and implement key internal controls to validate the completeness, existence, and valuation of inventory on hand. Work cross-functionally with the Operations team to resolve inventory issues, including investigating cost and inventory discrepancies. Perform weekly/monthly inventory reconciliations across all warehouses to ensure accurate month-end close balances and adjustments in SAP. Prepare month-end journal entries, reconciliations, reports, and schedules related to inventory and other financial accounts. Maintain, analyze, and reconcile various general ledger and balance sheet accounts. Support and assist with required monthly bank reporting. Assist in implementing accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance with GAAP principles. Review, design, streamline, and implement processes and internal controls. Document processes and business workflows. Support a collaborative, innovative, and results-oriented environment. Provide SME support and guidance for internal and external teams. Assist with year-end financial statement audits and periodic bank audits. Provide ad-hoc analysis and reporting as needed. Ensure all financial transactions are executed according to GAAP principles. Identify problems and discrepancies, independently perform research and analysis, and recommend corrective actions.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or relevant experience. Minimum of 3 years' experience in accounting, with a focus on inventory accounting preferred. Strong understanding of GAAP principles. Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with a strategic thought process. High attention to detail and accuracy. Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal. Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities. Ability to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines. Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with peers and cross-functional teams. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Experience with SAP Business One is a plus. CPG industry experience is a plus.
