Job Description

Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our Admin Team. In this vital role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting various accounting functions across the organization. Your expertise will help drive financial integrity and support strategic decision-making. Responsibilities Prepare and record journal entries, ensuring accuracy and adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and company policies. Perform account reconciliations for the general ledger, balance sheet, accounts payable, and accounts receivable to maintain precise financial data. Manage data entry tasks related to financial transactions using QuickBooks. Support month-end and year-end closing processes by reviewing financial statements and preparing supporting documentation. Conduct internal audits related to SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) compliance and assist with external audits as needed. Collaborate on budgeting, account analysis, and financial reporting projects to provide insights into organizational financial health. Support governmental and non-profit accounting functions by ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. Perform detailed account analysis, account reconciliation, and review of journal entries to ensure accuracy across all ledgers. Contribute to process improvements in bookkeeping, double-entry accounting, and financial software utilization to enhance efficiency. Experience Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CPA candidate preferred. Proven experience in corporate accounting or public accounting environments with a focus on financial concepts such as debits & credits, general ledger reconciliation, and journal entries. Familiarity with QuickBooks accounting software. Strong understanding of GAAP principles as well as governmental or non-profit accounting standards is advantageous. Demonstrated ability in data entry accuracy (10 key typing), account analysis, account reconciliation, and bookkeeping practices. Knowledge of tax processes and experience supporting audit procedures will set candidates apart. Excellent math skills combined with strong attention to detail for balance sheet reconciliation and account analysis tasks.
