Job Description

Job Overview Celadon Systems is seeking an organized and detail-oriented Staff Accountant and Operations Coordinator to join our team. This is a dual-function role that blends technical accounting with human resources oversight. This position works closely with the Director of Finance to facilitate the month-end close process and execute quarterly audit requirements, while serving as the lead for our PEO-supported HR and payroll functions. This is an excellent role for a candidate seeking to build a foundation in corporate controllership or business operations.
Accounting responsibilities:
Reconciliations:
Perform daily/monthly credit card and bank account reconciliations.
General Ledger:
Maintain accurate general ledger accounts, including posting journal entries and ensuring accuracy of financial data.
Tax Compliance:
Assist with sales tax filings and 1099 processing
Month-End Close:
Assist the Director of Finance with month-end close procedures, including account analysis and accruals.
Audit Support:
Prepare documentation for quarterly audits and tax preparations.
Expense Management:
Oversee employee expense reports and ensure alignment with company travel and spending policies.
Team Support:
Act as primary backup for the Accounting Specialist (Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable/Sales Order Entry) during absences or peak times.
Human Resources responsibilities:
Payroll & Compensation Execution:
Execute full-cycle bi-weekly payroll by auditing employee time records, calculating commissions/bonuses, and reconciling all data within the PEO platform to ensure General Ledger accuracy.
PEO Liaison:
Act as the internal point of contact regarding benefits and policies, coordinating directly with our PEO provider.
Onboarding & Lifecycle:
Manage the onboarding process for new hires; coordinate equipment, system access, and orientation.
Training Admin:
Coordinate and track mandatory employee training and compliance initiatives.
Personnel Records:
Maintain comprehensive personnel records, ensuring strict adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws and audit standards. Skills Microsoft Office Suite (Intermediate level) Familiarity with ERP Software and payroll systems. Proven ability to handle highly confidential personnel and financial data with total integrity Education Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required . 2-5 years of professional experience in an accounting role, preferred. Experience working with Syspro ERP and/or Insperity PEO is a plus!
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
