Job Description

YBI Recruiting is hiring a Staff Engineer on behalf of one of our manufacturing clients—an established U.S. company that builds and services specialized equipment used across utilities, telecom, construction, and infrastructure industries. This experienced (4+ years) Engineer will support a manufacturing facility specializing in the production of composite (fiberglass) and steel components for utility truck-mounted aerial device assemblies manufactured on site in downstream plants. This individual will develop the leadership and skills necessary to provide technical oversight and will function as a hands-on continuous improvement leader, project manager, and manufacturing process technical expert in this high-visibility role. This position offers strong long-term growth potential. Possible future growth paths could include Manufacturing Engineering Supervision, Operations Management, or Operations Support leadership.
Responsibilities:
Design Intent:
Ensure manufacturing is producing products in conformance with current engineering documentation Review component and part designs for design-for-manufacturability Lead the integration of new designs and products into
Manufacturing Production Planning & Execution:
Monitor costs, manpower efficiency, machine capability, space utilization, etc. and recommend revisions in manufacturing processes to ensure capacity aligns with demand. Directly support the focus factory and its team on site. Lead regular operations team meetings and improvement efforts focused on Quality, Safety, 5
S, and Environmental Compliance Lean Manufacturing:
Apply Lean Manufacturing knowledge by training, coaching, and implementing best practices. Act as a continuous improvement leader, owning value streams and driving measurable gains in safety, quality, delivery, and cost through varying complexity and duration projects. Lead Rapid Continuous Improvement (Kaizen) Events to remove bottlenecks from the value stream. Act as a change agent.
Project Management:
Bring structure and systems to ambiguous scenarios to strategically identify paths forward with some guidance from Manager. Lead and execute Capital projects (CAPEX) through all phases•Need Analysis, Equipment Specification, Layout Optimization, Cost Justification, Procurement, Installation, and Production Support Organize and manage information involving budgets, schedules, timelines, project Gantt charts, and potential technical challenges
Technical Process Oversight:
Systematically solve complex problems with many variables, including human, using best engineering practices Perform root cause analysis on quality non-conformances Design and improve manufacturing processes, including but not limited to: CNC machinery and industrial automation, composites (open & closed molding, filament winding, adhesives), machining, grinding, and sanding, sprayed paint and coatings, liquid chemical processes and associated EH&S considerations, general manufacturing•fabrication & assembly, and welding Design solutions for factory improvement using CAD software: SolidWorks, AutoCAD/Draftsight Code and troubleshoot programs on production machines via: MasterCAM, SolidCAM, G-Code Perform data analysis and create new tools for production team•
MS Office Suite, MS Power BI, PowerApps, Power Automate Team Collaboration:
Build strong collaborative relationships with production associates and production leadership Work interdepartmentally to coordinate with other teams on business needs Advocate for the production team as voice of manufacturing Mentor less experienced engineers and supervise engineering co-ops. May directly supervise hourly continuous improvement technician(s). Interface directly with Suppliers and occasionally Customers Support Operations, Sales, and Service with team work, continuous improvement, & customer satisfaction mentality
Minimum Requirements:
ABET EAC-certified Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (this does not include Engineering Technology degrees) Preferred disciplines include, but are not limited to: Mechanical, Industrial, Composite, Chemical, Aerospace, and Material Science Engineers Minimum of four years experience in an engineering role Applicable Master's Degree will count as one year of experience Willingness to travel when needed (approximately 10%)
