Job Description

Description The City of Creedmoor, conveniently located approximately 20 miles north of Raleigh and northeast of Durham, is seeking an experienced Public Works Director to perform facilities maintenance, grounds upkeep, various public works duties, and assist with special projects. An employee in this class plans, organizes, directs, and works in the field with employees engaged in a wide variety of municipal operations and services. The employee provides technical advice and assistance to the manager and Board in the improvement of streets and other infrastructure; construction, maintenance, & repair of stormwater control devices; and ensures that modern, safe, effective and efficient practices are utilized by municipal work crews. Work also includes contract management, handling citizen concerns and issues, and budget and personnel administration of the department. Employee represents the city to a wide variety of citizens, developers, state and federal regulatory officials, etc. Work is performed independently and in coordination with other city officials and is evaluated through conferences, observations, review of reports, and acceptance of the community. Employee is essential in overseeing the ESF as part of the ICS and City EOP. Qualifications Successful candidate must Graduate from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in project management, business administration, public administration, or related field, and considerable supervisory experience in the public works or environmental resources field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of a valid NC driver's license with clean driving record, Possession or ability to obtain
NCSU SCM
Inspection and Maintenance certification. Possession or ability to obtain certified playground safety inspector designation, and pre-employment drug screening, and criminal background check are required. Possession of NC pesticide applicator license or ability to obtain. Salary The starting salary for this position is expected to be in the range of $69,280 to $84,125 based on qualifications and experience. The City offers a benefits package including 100% paid medical/dental/vision/life insurance for employee-only, membership in the NC Local Government Employees Retirement System, 5% 401(k) contribution with no match required, identity theft protection coverage; optional flexible spending account, life, disability, and other insurances; tuition reimbursement; 12 paid holidays; 2 floating holidays and 12 paid vacation/sick leave days annually.
