Aug 26, 2026 Job Description The Oxford Public Schools is seeking a skilled and dedicated STEM coach to support and enhance math and science instruction at the pk-5 grade levels. Foundational proficiency in mathematics and scientific inquiry in the elementary years is critical for long-term academic success and prepares students for various STEM pathways. This position allows the district to have a staff member focus solely on supporting teachers in math and science instruction and the continuous review of our curriculum to ensure students are receiving the highest level of instruction and support in the areas of math and science.
Key Responsibilities:
(list not all inclusive) Collaborate with elementary school teachers to assess their instructional needs and develop tailored professional development plans. Implement coaching cycles focused on best practices in math and science instruction, including co-teaching, teacher observations of the STEM coach, and debrief sessions to unpack model lessons. Stay current on STEM related topics, inquiry-based strategies and instructional resources to enhance teacher effectiveness. Collaborate with district/building administration and teachers to set goals for improving math and science outcomes and develop strategies to meet these goals. Analyze math and science assessment data to identify trends, areas of improvement and success stories related to math and science. Foster a collaborative and supportive culture among teachers, promoting a shared commitment to excellence in STEM. Work closely with the district/building administration to develop and refine math and science curriculum that aligns to district purchased programming, CCSS and NGSS. Create and curate instructional materials and resources to support all student learning. Present to the Board of Education, Administration, and Parents on math and science initiatives, implementations, data, and instruction. All other duties assigned by building, or central office administration.
Qualifications:
Minimum 10 years of teaching experience in elementary education preferred Strong understanding of inquiry-based learning and mathematical practices Demonstrated success in improving student math and science achievement through evidence-based instructional practices Experience providing professional development and coaching support to teachers recommended.
