Immediately Job Description Teacher Job Description Mountain Valley Community School is seeking a highly qualified, dynamic STEM teacher to design and lead a comprehensive STEM program for students in grades 6-8. This is a unique opportunity for an innovative educator to build a program from the ground up—shaping curriculum, experiences, and opportunities that will engage students in meaningful, real-world learning. The successful candidate will have experience developing and implementing STEM programming, a strong instructional background, and a passion for hands-on, student-centered learning.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and build a STEM program: Develop a cohesive STEM curriculum and learning experiences from the ground up that align with middle school standards and best practices. Deliver high-quality STEM instruction: Plan and facilitate engaging, hands-on lessons that integrate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Foster problem-solving and critical thinking: Guide students through project-based learning experiences where they design, test, and refine solutions. Ensure access for all learners: Create an inclusive environment where all students can participate, engage, and succeed in STEM learning. Integrate technology and tools: Utilize a variety of tools, materials, and digital resources to support experiential learning and innovation. Support communication and media literacy: Provide students with opportunities to communicate ideas effectively through technology and digital media. Collaborate with colleagues: Partner with teachers across content areas to connect STEM learning to broader curriculum goals. Connect learning to real-world applications: Help students understand how STEM skills apply to careers and everyday problem-solving. Commit to continuous improvement: Engage in professional learning and stay current with best practices in STEM education. Create an engaging learning environment: Inspire curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning through meaningful and interactive experiences.
Qualifications:
Valid teaching certification in a relevant field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, or related area) Experience teaching at the middle school level (preferred) Demonstrated experience developing or expanding academic programs (strongly preferred) Strong classroom management and instructional skills Ability to design and implement project-based learning experiences Commitment to equity and inclusion in education We will consider Conditional certfications, if you haven't earned your full Professional certification. If a newly hired teacher (to RSU 10) is professionally certified and chooses not to take courses their first year, they qualify for up to $2500 towards existing student loans.
