Job Description

Sterile Processing Technician Schedule:
3×12-Hour Shifts | 10:00 AM - 10:30 PM Position Overview Join a collaborative and mission-driven healthcare team where your work directly supports safe, high-quality patient care throughout the hospital. As a Sterile Processing Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring surgical instruments, medical equipment, and procedural supplies are properly cleaned, sterilized, assembled, and distributed for patient use. This position is ideal for detail-oriented professionals who thrive in a fast-paced healthcare environment and take pride in maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and infection prevention. Key Responsibilities Clean, decontaminate, inspect, assemble, package, sterilize, and store reusable surgical instruments and medical equipment according to established protocols and manufacturer guidelines. Prepare and distribute surgical case carts based on physician preference cards and procedural schedules. Receive, stock, inventory, and organize sterile supplies and equipment throughout the hospital. Operate sterilization and decontamination equipment safely and effectively. Monitor and document sterilization quality indicators, including biological, chemical, and mechanical testing results. Ensure compliance with infection prevention standards, safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and accreditation guidelines. Assist with inventory management and supply control within Sterile Processing and Surgical Services. Support quality improvement initiatives and maintain accurate documentation. Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient sterile processing environment. Demonstrate professional communication and teamwork while collaborating with surgical staff and other departments. Protect patient privacy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards. Float to other qualified departments as needed to support patient care operations. Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications Education:
High School Diploma or GED Preferred:
Completion of an accredited Sterile Processing Technician program
Certifications Preferred:
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or equivalent Sterile Processing certification
Experience Required:
None — motivated entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply
Preferred:
Previous Sterile Processing or hospital experience
