Compensation:
$40.00 - $50.00 per hour based on expertise
Current Schedule:
Wednesday - Saturday | 25-35 Hours Weekly (Expanding to full-time in August 2026) Position Summary We are seeking a highly skilled Structure Hardening Specialist to serve as the lead field operator for our wildfire mitigation and specialty services division. This role requires a versatile, systems-oriented professional who possesses advanced carpentry skills, heavy equipment proficiency, and an absolute comfort level with ladders and roofs. As the on-site lead, you will be responsible for executing complex home-hardening retrofits, operating heavy machinery, and directing secondary field personnel. This position offers immediate autonomy for a proven operator, with a structured pathway to a full-time, benefited role as the company expands its operational capacity later this year.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities High-Access Structural Retrofits:
Serve as the primary execution lead for all high-altitude work. This includes safely setting tall ladders and performing ember-resistant vent installations on steep, 3-story+ rooflines.
Advanced Carpentry & Diagnostics:
Utilize professional carpentry skills and power tools to implement custom structural modifications, often requiring on-site problem solving and precise fitment.
Heavy Equipment & Logistics:
Safely operate skid steers for site management and material handling. Expertly maneuver and back up trailers in complex, high-altitude residential environments.
Site Leadership:
Oversee and direct secondary field technicians, ensuring adherence to project timelines, quality standards, and strict safety protocols.
Cross-Functional Support:
Collaborate with our staff arborist on technical tree operations and manage complex "odd jobs" to ensure comprehensive site completion. Required Qualifications High-Altitude Competence (Crucial): Demonstrated, proven experience and absolute comfort working safely on high ladders and multi-story roofs. This is a mandatory requirement for the role.
Trade Proficiency:
Extensive background in carpentry, residential maintenance, or construction, with expert-level proficiency in operating power tools safely and effectively.
Machinery & Transport:
Proven experience operating skid steers and successfully backing up trailers in tight, difficult terrain.
Critical Thinking:
Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess a job site, independently troubleshoot structural variables, and execute a solution.
Self-Equipped:
Must possess a reliable truck and a comprehensive, professional-grade set of hand and power tools.
Language Skills:
Bilingual proficiency (English and Spanish) is highly preferred and a significant asset to our operations.
Compensation & Future Upside Premium Contractor Rate:
$40.00 - $50.00/hr
