Area School System Student Pathways Coordinator Summary:
The Student Pathways Coordinator provides targeted, supplemental support to students identified as at-risk under Section 31a criteria by helping them access, enroll in, and successfully participate in Career and Technical Education (CTE), dual enrollment, early college, and other approved postsecondary pathways. This role focuses on removing barriers, increasing access, and supporting student engagement and persistence in pathway opportunities.
Qualifications:
1. Valid Michigan Administrative certification, or enroll in a program to obtain Michigan Administrator certification 2. Administrative and program oversight experience preferred. 3. Experience with CTE, dual enrollment, and alternative education preferred. 4. Experience working with students facing academic, attendance, or engagement challenges. 5. Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills. 6. Experience working in a K-12 public school setting. 7. Familiarity with Section 31a requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
1.
Primary Responsibilities:
Support students in exploring and enrolling in CTE, dual enrollment, early college, virtual learning, and alternative education pathways. Identify barriers to pathway participation (academic readiness, attendance, transportation, scheduling, family concerns) and coordinate targeted supports. Monitor student progress within pathway programs and adjust supports in collaboration with counselors, principals, and instructional staff. 2. Attendance & Engagement Support district attendance intervention efforts for pathway, virtual, and alternative education students & conduct outreach to families of chronically absent students. Track attendance interventions and outcomes and report trends to administration and support re-engagement of disconnected learners and students at risk of dropout. 3. Alternative Virtual Program Oversight Oversee all aspects of the alternative pathways virtual program, including, but not limited to, student discipline, enrollment coordination, placement, success plans, and student monitoring. Monitor students' academic progress, attendance, and engagement, and serve as a point of contact between families and staff. 4. Family & Community Engagement Serve as a liaison between schools and families of at-risk students accessing pathway, virtual alternative programs, provide proactive communication regarding program expectations, enrollment processes, and student progress, and assist families in understanding pathway requirements and supports. 5.
MTSS / PBIS
Collaboration Data, Documentation & Compliance Use data to inform targeted supports for students accessing pathway programs, support consistent implementation of intervention plans across buildings and align pathway supports with district efforts related to engagement, attendance, and dropout prevention. Track student participation and outcomes in pathway, virtual, and alternative education programs and support Section 31a reporting and compliance requirements.
Terms of Employment:
190 contract days Student Pathways Coordinator 1 FTE This position is funded through Section 31a and provides supplemental services beyond the district's core instructional and counseling programs. Services are targeted to students identified as at-risk and are designed to improve access, engagement, and persistence in approved pathway opportunities.
