Job Title:
Substation Construction Manager Job Description The Substation Construction Manager is pivotal to the project's success, operating as the field-level quarterback. This position requires a blend of office and field work, with approximately 70% of time spent in the office and 30% in the field. The role involves bridging communication between the field operations and the Project Manager, ensuring project alignment and execution. Responsibilities Oversee project success from a field level, acting as a bridge between field operations and the Project Manager. Engage in preconstruction activities, including understanding contract documents and contractor safety plans. Conduct and lead project kickoff meetings to set expectations and lead the team. Ensure site-specific orientations and safety assessments are conducted and documented. Maintain a good relationship with contractors and ensure project engagement. Ensure project safety and quality by understanding specifications and drawings, and monitoring schedules. Track project progress and approve Construction Status Updates (CSU). Monitor environmental constraints before and during work activities. Collect and manage accurate data for reporting purposes and potential change order disputes. Communicate effectively with the Project Manager to provide support when necessary. Utilize additional resources such as environmental teams, material managers, safety teams, and subject matter experts to ensure project success. Essential Skills Extensive experience in construction management, specifically in substation projects. Strong understanding of contract documents and safety plans. Proficiency in project tracking and reporting. Ability to lead and train teams effectively. Excellent communication and relationship-building skills. Additional Skills & Qualifications Knowledge of SWPPP and environmental management in construction. Experience with project tracking spreadsheets and data management. Familiarity with using subject matter experts for problem-solving across different disciplines such as civil, structural, and electrical. Work Environment The position involves working at various site locations as determined by the client. The role requires adaptability to both office and field environments, with a professional dress code when necessary. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Searchlight, NV. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $58.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
