Job Description

TITLE:
Summer Camp Bus Driver
LOCATION/CLUB SITE
All BGCJC Sites
REPORTS TO
Directors of Operations
CLASSIFICATION
Part-Time HOURS:
Monday
  • Friday, Est.
9 AM to 4 PM, Occasional additional hours outside this range for events.
Pay Rate:
rate $20
  • 25 per hour Organization Description The Boys and Girls Club of Jefferson City's commitment to putting our members first, dedication to safety, and an ambition to deliver dependable transportation makes for an ideal working environment.
Key Roles (Essential Job Responsibilities) Duties include instructing members in the safe and proper methods of boarding and departing from the bus, monitor the operating condition of the bus on a continual basis and reports needed servicing and/or repairs. Keep the bus free of litter and trash. Employees in this position must comply with Missouri State laws, rules and regulations in addition to national and/or local Boys & Girls Club policies relative to transportation. Communicate with Unit Directors & Director of Operations for daily duties, planned duties, and emergencies. Drive the club bus or passenger vans to transport club members. Ensure safe travel for members and staff. Maintain the condition of the bus. Keep bus free of litter and trash. Maintain daily vehicle log and stay on established routes and schedules. Transport members on planned field trips and attend all necessary meetings and trainings. Supervise children. Enforce Boys & Girls Club Rules. Ensure children obey safety rules. Ensure all children are accounted for. Arrive at collection points prior to departure times Ensure adherence to passenger limits. Avoid high-traffic and accident-prone routes, where possible. Record and report all accidents and incidents to your supervisor. Prepare special reports as needed and attend training programs, testing programs, first aid courses, refresher courses and other meetings as scheduled. 15. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent Valid CDL with School Bus Endorsement Ability to work both afternoon and evening hours Ability to be a positive role model Ability to establish rapport and build relationships Clean driving record Previous experience driving groups of people Outstanding knowledge of applicable transport and safety codes Excellent route planning abilities Working knowledge of pertinent vehicle maintenance and restoration techniques Must be able to obtain CPR and First Aid certification Must be able to pass agency background check and pre-employment drug screen Must pass the health and employment requirements set by Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services as a condition of employment
Relationships Internal:
Maintains close, daily contact with Club staff (professional and volunteer), Club members, and supervisor to receive/provide information, discuss issues, explain guidelines/ instructions; instruct; and advise/counsel. Maintain close relationships with club administrative personnel.
External:
Maintains contact with external community groups, schools, members' parents and others to assist in resolving problems.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment Physical requirements:
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and policy manuals. The ability to clearly and concisely exchange/receive ideas, facts and or technical information with others. Ability to visually monitor activities of club members and road conditions. The employee is required to be able to perform CPR or first aid. The employee is required to use hands to handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to operate a motor vehicle daily. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds.
Working environment:
Normal club environment.
