Job Description

Are you looking to spend the summer in the sun on Little Ossipee Lake in East Waterboro, Maine? Camp Laughing Loon is seeking enthusiastic and responsible individuals to join our team for the summer camp season. Spend your days swimming, canoeing, playing sports, creating art and enjoying nature with campers aged 6-12. As a camp counselor, you will be responsible for supervising campers, leading activities and ensuring the safety and well-being of campers. If you are passionate about working with children and creating memories that will last a lifetime, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity. Counselors must be 17+
Staff Hours:
Monday
  • Friday 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Mandatory staff orientation June 19 from 8:30 AM
  • 4:30 PM Two evening commitments, as well. Camp is in session June 22
  • August 14 Minimum Qualifications Demonstrated experience working with children Leadership skills to guide and teach a range of recreational activities High level of responsibility and accountability Ability to communicate effectively and work with a variety of age and skill levels The desire and ability to work in a cooperative, team-oriented atmosphere where enthusiasm, a sense of humor, and patience are required High school graduate, equivalent or active enrollment in school Counselor Responsibilities Take primary responsibility for the safety, well-being, and engagement of campers of diverse ages and backgrounds Plan, lead and implement creative, enjoyable activities and experiences for campers.
Recognize, assess and respond appropriately to camper concerns and situations. Use positive behavior management techniques as modeled and practiced. Offer support and guidance as needed. Maintain positive relations campers, staff and parents Prepare for and actively participate in camp activities and daily staff meetings. Be a problem-solver, but ask for help when necessary.
