Summer Camp Counselor (Seasonal)

Summer Camp Counselor (Seasonal) 94 Sanctuary Road, Lake Ariel, PA 18436 $600 a week - Temporary, Part-time $600 a week - Temporary, Part-time Lacawac Sanctuary is seeking kind, compassionate, enthusiastic, educators with outdoor educational experiences to join our team as a seasonal camp counselor. Camp runs Monday-Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. As a camp counselor you will be responsible for the daily operations of your assigned group as well as overseeing a counselor in training (CIT) who is assigned to assist with daily operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Camp counselors must be willing and able to interact with campers & their families in a positive, polite manner. As a camp counselor, you will be responsible for the wellbeing and safety (mentally & physically) of up to 16 campers a day, as well as overseeing the responsibilities of a counselor in training (CIT) who is between the ages of 13-17 years old. As a camp counselor, you will handle daily operations of your group (following the designated schedule, gathering all materials for the day, signing campers in and out during arrival & dismissal), as well as handling all minor issues within your group. Counselors should be here no later than 8:20 AM every day of the week (Monday - Friday) and are expected to be able to work until 4:00 PM everyday Monday-Friday. Camp counselors should be enthusiastic, compassionate, respectful and kind while working and interacting with campers and their families, other staff members of Lacawac, any volunteers and other members of our community. Please note that this job may also count as internship hours if approved by your university/academic advisor. Qualifications:

Must be 18 years of age or older to apply Must have reliable transportation to and from camp everyday Must live within driving distance of Lacawac Sanctuary Prior childcare experience (1+ years) preferred Must be able to work with children ages 5-12 Must be able to work with children of all backgrounds (educational, developmental, and socioeconomic) Must be able to communicate professionally, efficiently, and articulately with all staff, parents, and supervisors Must be able to stand, hike, and actively engage in physical activities as specified within your job description Must be able to pass a FEDERAL and STATE background check Must be willing to adapt to the needs of staff and campers as needed CPR/First Aid certified is a plus, but training will be provided during orientation.
