Job Description

DETAILS:
Seasonal summer position from mid-May to mid-
August Shift:
Monday through Friday between 7:30am and 5:30 pm. Save on gas money! Transportation options from Westside HS in Omaha or Elkorn North High School in Elkhorn. Ask for details
Summary:
Join our Museum's Education Department as a Summer Camp Instructor and ignite the joy of learning, creativity, and teamwork among campers ages 6 to 13 years old. In this role, you will lead engaging activities, foster a safe and inclusive environment, and inspire children to explore their interests through one-of-a-kind aviation and space based learning camps. Your enthusiasm and dedication will help create memorable summer experiences that promote growth, confidence, and lifelong friendships. This summer position offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills while making a positive impact on children's lives.
Responsibilities:
Plan and facilitate a variety of age-appropriate activities including STEM activities, arts and crafts, and outdoor games that promote physical activity and creative expression. Manage classroom behavior effectively using positive reinforcement and behavior management techniques to ensure a safe and respectful environment. Provide supervision and support for children during all camp activities, ensuring their safety at all times. Implement first aid procedures when necessary, maintaining health and safety standards across all camp settings. Collaborate with fellow staff members to create fun summer memories. Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding camper progress, behavior, and any concerns that arise during camp sessions. Support the development of social skills, emotional regulation, and childhood development milestones through nurturing guidance and mentorship. Qualifications Prior experience working with children in an informal education setting, childcare, camp, or tutoring settings is desired. Strong classroom management skills with the ability to handle multiple children in active environments. Certification in first aid and CPR is highly desirable; willingness to obtain certification prior to start date is required. Knowledge of early childhood education principles and childhood development strategies. Ability to engage children through creative teaching methods. Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with children, parents, and team members. Enthusiastic attitude with a passion for working with kids in a fun, energetic setting.
