Job Description

Residential summer camp contract with lodging and meals included $2409/week = $15,659.50/contract CT license reimbursement up to $180.00, PALS/BLS reimbursement up to $275.00
Contract:
6.5-week placement Starting June 2026 This is nursing unlike anything you've ever experienced. As a Registered Nurse - Pediatric in the heart of Ashford, Connecticut, you'll deliver essential care to children and young adults with serious illnesses. Unlike a traditional setting, you'll provide care in a powerful, adventure-based environment under the stars. From fireside chats to forest hikes, you'll support campers ages 7 to 18 through moments of challenge and growth, blending clinical skill with heart. Whether you're in the backcountry or at a basecamp, your presence helps build resilience, independence, and lasting confidence. This is one of the most fulfilling roles you can take on.

Key Responsibilities:
Deliver safe, high-quality nursing care in a residential camp environment for children and young adults. Administer medications (oral, G/J tube, IV, subcutaneous, inhaled, topical), perform procedures (IV placement, wound care, blood draws), support ADLs and dietary planning, and supervise high-risk activities and emergency care. Triage and respond to acute needs among campers, staff, and volunteers. Manage care planning and charting using the camp's electronic medical record system. Collaborate closely with the program team and Medical Leadership to adapt programming to each participant's unique needs and medical profile. Prepare nursing supplies for basecamp and backcountry sites; ensure safe medication storage and access. Onboard and support medical volunteers; serve as a trusted mentor and role model. Participate in
COVID-19
safety protocols, including screening and care for symptomatic individuals. Communicate effectively with Nursing and Provider Leadership teams on health updates and care coordination.
Qualifications & Experience :
Registered Nursing Degree (BSN preferred) Active Connecticut RN license (required by start date) Current CPR and PALS certifications (required prior to arrival Experience in pediatric hematology/oncology, inpatient care, or emergency nursing is a plus Prior wilderness training or comfort with outdoor camping/backpacking is highly value Physical and mental readiness to deliver care in outdoor, rustic settings Flexibility, compassion, and a collaborative spirit Ability to work with a diverse, multicultural community in a fast-paced, high-impact environment All roles are residential and require full on-site participation for the summer program
