Summer Camp Nurse

Position Dates:

May 11th-August 7th (specific workdays/days in accordance with camp schedule) Contract length: 13 weeks

Compensation:

$19,500 Eligible for additional bonus of up to $3,500! This is nursing unlike anything you've experienced before. As a Registered Pediatric Nurse in the heart of Gypsum, Colorado, you'll provide vital care to children and young people with serious illnesses. Here, your work takes place in a unique, adventure-based camp environment, under open skies and surrounded by nature. From fireside conversations to forest hikes, you'll support campers aged 7 to 18 through moments of challenge, growth, and connection, combining clinical expertise with genuine compassion. As a Summer Camp Nurse, you'll be responsible for the medical safety, health, and wellbeing of campers during sessions and on-site programmes. At the same time, you'll play a key role in helping them build resilience, independence, and lasting confidence. It's a role that goes beyond nursing, offering one of the most meaningful and rewarding experiences you can have in your career. This position requires more than 1 year of pediatric nursing experience.

Key Responsibilities:

Deliver safe, high-quality nursing care in a residential camp environment for children and young adults Provide routine and emergent nursing care under the direction of the Nursing Director Collaborate with Medical Team and Volunteer Program and adapt to each participant's unique needs and medical profile Give first-line support for the medical needs of campers in their assigned cabin during each camp session Provide coverage in Medical Facility and triage campers appropriately when needed Communicate effectively with Nursing and Provider Leadership teams on health updates and care coordination

Qualifications & Experience:

Registered Nursing Degree Experienced Registered Nurse with more than 1 year experience of pediatric care; this can include general pediatrics, pediatric ER (e.g adult/peds combo), PICU, Pediatric Home Health or other specialty pediatric units State of Colorado Registered Nursing License (or a multi-state license) Current AED/BLS and PALS or ENPC certification Prior wilderness training or comfort with outdoor camping/backpacking is highly valuable Physical and mental readiness to deliver care in outdoor, rustic settings Flexibility, compassion, and a collaborative spirit Ability to work with a diverse, multicultural community in a fast-paced, high-impact environment All roles are residential and require full on-site participation for the summer program
