Position:
(Purpose of the Position): The Swim Camp Counselor supports all aspects of camp life including camper experience and programming with camp director and coaches for the duration of camp(s).
Transferable Skills:
Leadership, time-management, coaching, video/recording of swim form, communication
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Ensure campers are accounted for at all times from morning wake up, during the day, until evening lights out. 2. Coordinate evening camper activities. 3. Organize daily dry-land activities. 4. Provide supervision of campers at assigned activities, both instructional and recreational, for the duration of the camp session(s). 5. Be responsive and reachable throughout the duration of camp, and on-campus from 10pm - 8am daily. 6. Apply basic youth development principles in working with students through communication, relationship development, respect, and involvement. 7. Be aware of and implement all safety guidelines. Follow and uphold all security rules and procedures. Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers. 8. Interact with people from a diversity of backgrounds and experience. 9. Videoing of swim technique and uploading videos of each camper.
Qualifications:
(Education/Experience/Skills) Applicants should have a background working with children and knowledge of competitive swimming and strength and conditioning.
Physical and Environmental Factors:
This position requires crouching, kneeling/crawling, twisting/pivoting, climbing/balancing, reaching overhead, grasping/handling, pushing/pulling, lifting and carrying objects up to 20 lbs., and repetitive motions to perform the essential functions. It also requires exposure to loud noise, respiratory factors, chemicals, wet or humid conditions indoors, proximity hazards, and heights or cramped quarters to perform the essential functions. Candidates must possess the ability to safely perform the physical work required of all duties with or without reasonable accommodation. This job description is for general information purposes.
