Position Details Position Information Position Title Summer Grounds Assistant 2026 Pay Grade Level FLSA Benefits Department Facilities Campus Location Escanaba Pay Rate $13.73 per hour Min Salary Max Salary FTE .50 Position Type Student Job Summary/Basic Function Bay College, an equal opportunity employer, is seeking applicants for the Summer Grounds/Maintenance Assistant position. Student employees will support the upkeep, maintenance, and sanitization of campus buildings and grounds. Start dates and work schedules will be determined during the interview process. Minimum Qualifications Must be a currently enrolled Bay College student pursuing a degree or certificate. Must be enrolled in at least the Summer 2026 and/or Fall 2026 semester at the time of hire. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment. Ability to safely operate power equipment. Must possess a valid driver's license. Must have a valid Bay College student ID. Preferred Qualifications Months Per Year 3.5 Work Hours May work up to 29 hours per week Supervision Exercised Supervision Received Works under the direction of the Groundskeeper. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Job Duties Job Duty Perform routine grounds maintenance including mowing, trimming, and general lawn care. Plant and maintain flowers, shrubs, and landscaped areas. Water plants and assist with seasonal landscaping tasks. Assist with painting projects and minor maintenance tasks. Shovel, move, and distribute dirt, mulch, and other landscaping materials. Operate lawn mowers, weed trimmers, and other grounds maintenance equipment in a safe manner in accordance with Bay College policies and OSHA . Assist with general outdoor work related to the upkeep of campus buildings and grounds. Perform minor repair work as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
