Job Description
Job Summary:
The Linecrew Helper position is designed for high school graduates or students interested in exploring a career in the electrical utility industry. This temporary summer job opportunity provides exposure to the daily work performed by electrical linepersons in the field. The Linecrew Helper will assist the crews with basic, unskilled tasks while observing and learning about line construction, maintenance, and safety practices. This position is strictly supervised and intended as an introductory learning experience. The Lineman Helper will work under the direct supervision of qualified linepersons at all times and will not perform skilled electrical work. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assist line crews with basic, unskilled support tasks. Observe and learn about overhead and underground electrical line construction and maintenance. Help organize tools, materials, and equipment for line crews. Load and unload materials, tools, and supplies from vehicles. Maintain a clean and organized job site. Follow all safety rules, policies, and procedures. Participate in safety briefings and training opportunities. Assist with site preparation, and other basic support duties as directed. Perform other general labor tasks assigned by crew supervisors. Learning Opportunities Participants in this role may gain exposure to: Utility line construction and maintenance practices Basic electrical distribution concepts Utility safety procedures and job site protocols Tools and equipment used by line crews Career pathways in the electric utility industry This position requires the incumbent to be physically on-site. Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the United States. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time. Qualifications High school graduate, and/or a student pursuing general studies in electrical or related fields. Must be at least 18 years old by June 1, 2026, Interest in learning about the electrical utility or lineperson trade. Ability to follow directions and work safely in a team environment. Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Basic physical ability to lift, carry, and move equipment and materials. Must be able to provide documents to establish identity and employment eligibility as required by the Immigration and Reform Control Act of 1986. Must pass a pre-employment physical and drug test. Physical Requirements Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with assistance when needed. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform manual labor for extended periods. Ability to work outdoors in various weather and terrain conditions. Supervision This position will always work under the direct supervision of qualified line personnel . The Lineman Helper will not perform energized electrical work or skilled lineperson duties .
