To Be Determined Job Description GCPS Maintenance/Transportation Internship Job Description The maintenance/transportation intern will assist with light work in the Maintenance and Transportatoin Departments at Galax City Public Schools. Essential Functions Assist with preventative maintenance checks on equipment and buildings. Assist with inventory of supplies, tools and equipment. Assist with building and equipment repairs as needed in the Transportation Department. Assist with preventative maintenance checks on school buses and vehicles. Change the oil, oil filters and air filters on school buses and vehicles. Assist with tire rotation and installation. Change seat covers in school buses. Preferred Skills Ability to organize and keep records. Ability to follow directions. Ability to manage time efficiently and work independently. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work. Qualifications and Education Requirements To perform this job successfully, an individual must have basic mechanical skills and organization. In addition, the individual must be able to effectively communicate with other, and be able to follow directions of tasks assigned. Must be at least 16 years of age and currently a student in grades 10-12 at Galax City Public Schools. Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards Works in standard office, garage, and school building environments.
