Summer Sports Camp Assistant Coach Position Overview:
The District is seeking a qualified and enthusiastic individual to serve as a Summer Camp Instructor for our Summer Sports Camp sessions. This seasonal, part-time role involves planning and delivering organized instructional activities to student-athletes in a safe, supportive environment. The coach will collaborate with the Athletics Department to reinforce sport-specific fundamentals, promote positive team culture, and ensure compliance with all IHSA guidelines.
Camp Schedule & Contact Days:
All camp sessions are IHSA-approved and will be conducted from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. June 15th
  • June 18th (4 Days) June 22nd
  • June 25th (4 Days) June 29th
  • July 5th (No Contact Days / Blackout Week) July 6th
  • July 9th (4 Days) July 13th
  • July 16th (4 Days) July 20th
  • July 23rd (4 Days)

20 days × 3 hours/day = 60 hours
Compensation:
Assistant Coach:
$30 per hour
Qualifications Required Experience & Training:
Valid Illinois State Teaching Certificate (Type 03, 09, or 10)
OR ASEP/NFHS
Certification, as mandated by the Illinois High School Association (IHSA). Compliance with Illinois state law and IHSA regulations regarding CPR and AED certification for all high school athletic coaches. Completion of IHSA-mandated concussion awareness training and other safety protocols as required by state and federal regulations, including the Youth Sports Concussion Safety Act (105 ILCS 5/22-80). Background check and fingerprinting clearance in accordance with the Illinois School Code and IHSA eligibility requirements. Completion of federal Title IX training to ensure compliance with anti-discrimination laws in athletics. In-depth knowledge of the sport, including rules, techniques, and strategies. Prior successful coaching experience in the assigned sport. Strong instructional skills in both individual and team fundamentals, strategy, and physical conditioning. Commitment to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and equitable athletic program that supports the academic and personal development of all student-athletes.
Coaching Certification:
For non-teaching staff, possession of a current coaching certification through the American Sport Education Program (ASEP), National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), or other IHSA-approved programs is required.
Concussion Certification:
Completion of state-mandated concussion certification is necessary, with certifications typically valid for two years.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and implement age-appropriate drills, skill-development exercises, and practice routines. Supervise and provide direct instruction to student-athletes during camp hours. Maintain a safe and inclusive environment that fosters sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive behavior. Communicate effectively with camp participants, parents/guardians, and the Athletics Department regarding camp objectives, schedules, and any updates. Monitor attendance, track participant progress, and submit any required reports or evaluations at the conclusion of each session. Ensure all IHSA regulations and district policies are followed throughout each contact day. Other duties as assigned.
