Summer Staff 12-6 4.1 4.1 out of 5 stars Berrien Springs, MI 49104 Seasonal Andrews University 93 reviews Seasonal We are seeking dedicated and responsible Andrews University students to join our Early Childhood Education Center team for May through August 2026. This position qualifies for the AU Summer Camp Scholarship. All required job trainings will be provided, including background checks, fingerprinting, and CPR/First Aid certification.

Work Schedule:

Qualifications summary Applicants must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma and currently enrolled at Andrews University. Candidates should love working with young children and demonstrate patience, positivity, and flexibility while upholding Christian values. Strong teamwork, punctuality, and time management are essential. Applicants must be physically able to meet classroom demands. Duties and responsibilities The teacher supports a safe, nurturing, and well-managed classroom by following daily routines, maintaining structure, and promoting positive behavior. Reliability, strong classroom management, and teamwork are essential. Key Responsibilities Assist with daily schedules, lessons, and age-appropriate activities Support play-based learning aligned with The Crayon Box curriculum Supervise children at all times to ensure safety Help maintain a clean, organized classroom and shared spaces Model positive behavior and use consistent, respectful guidance Work collaboratively with teachers and the Director Communicate professionally with children, families, and staff Follow all center policies and licensing requirements Assist with additional tasks as needed Supervisory responsibilities May serve as Staff in Charge when the Director is off-site, ensuring smooth operations and professional communication with families, staff, visitors, and licensing representatives. Independently manage the classroom by maintaining routines, safety, and engagement when support staff are unavailable. Provide guidance to teachers, student workers, and volunteers while modeling strong classroom management and supervision. Uphold The Crayon Box's mission, policies, and all licensing requirements at all times. Qualifications Applicants must be 18+, have a high school diploma, and be currently enrolled at Andrews University. Consistent availability, including finals week, is required. Ideal candidates are dependable, punctual, love working with children, and bring a warm, joyful, and positive spirit that reflects Christian values in a Christ-centered learning environment. Works collaboratively with staff and communicates warmly and professionally with children, families, and coworkers. Builds nurturing relationships with children using positive guidance and encouragement. Maintains confidentiality, appropriate boundaries, and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds while supporting a faith-filled, Christ-centered learning environment. Physical demands This position requires frequent physical activity, including lifting and carrying children; standing, walking, and sitting for extended periods; and regular bending, kneeling, and movement. Fine motor skills and physical stamina are necessary. Work is performed in an early childhood setting with indoor and outdoor activities, exposure to temperature changes, and common childhood illnesses. Staff must maintain physical awareness and flexibility to ensure a safe learning environment. Work environment This role is based in an early childhood classroom and outdoor play areas and involves active engagement with children throughout the day. The environment may include exposure to cleaning products, bodily fluids, and common childhood illnesses. Teachers assist with maintaining clean, safe spaces and follow all Crayon Box health, safety, and licensing policies.
