JOB SUMMARY
This position is responsible for assisting and working collaboratively with the lead teacher to deliver daily lessons. Perform duties that are instructional in nature or deliver direct services to students. Serve in a position for which a teacher or another professional has ultimate responsibility for the design and implementation of educational programs and services.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Discuss assigned duties with classroom teachers in order to coordinate instructional efforts. Present subject matter to students under the direction and guidance of teachers, using lectures, discussions,or supervised role-playing methods. Tutor and assist children individually or in small groups in order to help them master assignments and to reinforce learning concepts presented by teachers. Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, school yards, and gymnasiums, or on field trips. Conduct demonstrations to teach such skills as sports, dancing, and handicrafts. Enforce administration policies and rules governing students. Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials, in order to prevent injuries and damage. Observe students' performance, and record relevant data to assess progress. Organize and label materials, and display students' work in a manner appropriate for their eye levels and perceptual skills. Organize and supervise games and other recreational activities to promote physical, mental, and social development. Provide extra assistance to students with special needs, such as non-English-speaking students or those with physical and mental disabilities. Use computers, audiovisual aids, and other equipment and materials to supplement presentations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Current STEM student in the Mead School District Experience with K12 students in district approved activities, STEM events, and Summer STEM Academy Excellent communication skills Evidence of productive experience with problem-based learning
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Ability to multi-task and work independently. Ability to handle complaints with patience and efficiency. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work well under pressure and to meet deadlines. Excellent writing skills and demonstrated ability to develop written reports and action plans. Ability to project a positive and concern image to the public. Ability to handle complaints with patience and efficiency. Considerable knowledge of Windows, Macintosh and Chrome platform proficiency. Knowledge of school operations, preferred. Excellent organizational and communication skills.
