Job Description
Under the delegated supervision each Summer Youth Worker, provides a safe, stimulating environment for children in the Summer Program. Conducts individual and group activities to encourage learning and develop social interaction skills. Maintain all appropriate records of attendance and activities of the summer program. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information at all times. This list of duties and responsibilities is illustrative only of the tasks performed by this position and is not all-inclusive
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Summer Youth workers will be required to have a 3.0 GPA or higher Ages from 16 to 19 Must successfully be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigationESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Assists in developmentally appropriate individual and/or group activities and learning opportunities according to individual needs and learning styles Assists individual and/or group direction, guidance and supervision of the children in the performance of developmental activities Assists in preparing instructional, developmental, and recreational materials, facilities, and equipment in accordance with applicable regulations, policies and standards Assists in instructing, guiding, with the children in a safe and proper manner Assist and encourage the participants to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program area(s) Assists and ensures confidential maintenance of all participant files Assist in cleaning up areas of the program and participants in food and assignment areas Performs other duties as assigned KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, SKILLS andCERTIFICATIONS
Knowledge of play, reading, and quiet-time activities for children and teens Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures Ability to provide a supportive and caring environment for children Ability to communicate effectively in the English both verbally and in writing Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels Ability to work effectively with individuals and demonstrate leadership and team-building skills with empathy and enthusiasm Ability to maintain confidentiality Ability to analyze situations and adopt appropriate courses of action Ability to work independently and meet strict timelines Skill in identifying youth needs and activities Skill in analyzing problems, projecting consequences, identifying solutions, and making recommendations Ability to carry out instructions furnished in verbal or written format.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Manual dexterity to operate computers and other necessary office equipment. Able to work in a fast-paced, multi-task environment. Able to bend, reach, kneel, twist, and grip items in assigned work area Employee may regularly be required to sit; use hands to, handle, or feel; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; and reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally is required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste and smell. Lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed in both an office and outdoor setting with a moderate noise level. Evening, weekend, and/or holiday work will be required, and applicants should be prepared to accommodate a flexible schedule. Travel is required for training, meetings, conferences, presentations, and other events. The position will require that workers not use their personal cell phone, unless a preexisting medical condition requires it. Youth workers will be notified of any emergency that applies to them for situations that may arise outside of work The position will require that workers not use their phone for a considerable length of time, which could last the whole day, with the understanding that the youth workers will be notified of any emergency that applies to them for situations that may arise outside of work.Similar remote jobs
