Sumner Memorial High School Join Sumner Memorial School, located in the picturesque town of Sullivan, Maine. Nestled just 15 minutes east of Ellsworth and 40 miles from Bangor, our brand-new Charles M. Sumner Learning Campus serves both Sumner Middle School and Sumner Memorial High School. With approximately 208 students in grades 9-12, our school fosters an environment that challenges students while providing a safe and respectful learning space. Our mission is to empower students to navigate diverse environments and contribute meaningfully to their communities. We are seeking a team oriented, collaborative, energetic, and creative high school music, chorus & band teacher. This full-time position will begin with the 2026-2027 school year. Our ideal candidate will work to lead and build our music/band program; develop students' understanding and appreciation of the art of music; as well as identify, promote and develop instrumental musical expression. The successful candidate will have access to our state-of-the-art facilities, including a brand new auditorium, band/choral room, and individualized practice rooms. The successful candidate will hold or be able to hold a Maine Department of Education Teacher Certification 614 (K-12 Music). Must hold a current MDOE Criminal History Records Check. Pay is based upon experience and level of education. Comprehensive benefit package which includes health, dental, and vision insurance, pension and 403(b) plans, flexible spending accounts for medical and daycare expenses, direct deposit, and much more. Must hold or be eligible to hold or be able to obtain a Maine Educator Certification with a current MDOE Criminal History Records Check. At least three years of successful teaching experience is required.
