Job Description
Sunday School Teacher -multi-age group 1 Sterling City Road, Old Lyme, CT 06371 $22.75 - $27.39 an hour - Part-time $22.75 - $27.39 an hour - Part-time Overview Join our small but growing community as a Sunday School Teacher for a multi-age group, where your enthusiasm and dedication will inspire children to explore their faith and develop meaningful connections. This paid position involves in-person attendance 3 times a month. You will plan and lead Sunday School twice a month, and provide a children's sermon once a month. We are interested in providing Sunday School once a month for our younger children (ages 4-9) and once a month for our older children (10-14.) Our small church is a member of the United Church of Christ and is located in Lyme, CT. We celebrate our 300th anniversary this year. We have a small group of children that attend church nearly every week, and a broader group that attend sometimes. Sunday School would take place during our 10 AM worship. Responsibilities Prepare and deliver age-appropriate Bible lessons that resonate with children across different age groups. Foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where children feel comfortable expressing their faith and asking questions. Incorporate creative teaching methods, including storytelling, crafts, music, and interactive activities to enhance learning experiences. Collaborate with church staff and volunteers to coordinate special events, holiday programs, and community outreach activities. Uphold church policies and safety protocols diligently to ensure a secure environment for all participants. Skills Proven experience in teaching or mentoring children--experience teaching Christian ed is a bonus, but not essential. A mature and infectious faith. Ability to express that in ways consistent with our mainline to progressive orientation. Creativity and flexibility are a must! Successful completion of a criminal background check. Ability to supervise a volunteer who will assist you in supervising the children during the lesson. Must be 18 years of age or older; some college is preferred.
Terms:
This is a 9 month position; 3 Sundays a month from September through May. The position is salaried at 4500 per year. Occasional meetings with the pastor will also be part of this position. For more information, or to apply, please contact pastorsusanolson@gmail.comPay:
