Job Overview Only those with Supermarket Store Management experience will be considered. We are seeking an energetic and dynamic Supermarket Manager to lead our retail store to success! We are a small family owned IGA located on beautiful Shelter Island . We are open all year long, with our busy season between Memorial Day -Labor Day. In this exciting role, you will oversee daily operations, ensure exceptional customer service to a specialty clientele and drive sales growth. Your leadership will motivate a team, manage inventory efficiently, oversee ordering, and uphold the highest standards of store presentation. Duties Lead and supervise all store activities, including sales, customer service, inventory control, and staff management Recruit, interview, train, and/or fire and develop team members to foster a high-performing workforce Manage payroll, scheduling, and shift assignments to optimize store operations Oversee purchasing, pricing strategies, and merchandising to maximize profitability and customer satisfaction Monitor inventory levels regularly to prevent stock shortages or overstocking; implement effective stock rotation practices Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies at all times Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide coaching to enhance employee skills and engagement Skills Strong leadership abilities with proven experience in retail management or assistant manager roles Excellent communication skills and bilingual capabilities are highly valued Proficient in negotiation, purchasing, inventory management, and retail math for accurate pricing and sales analysis Skilled in supervising teams, training staff, and fostering a positive work environment Knowledge of POS systems, cashiering procedures, and cash handling protocols Effective organizational skills with the ability to multitask efficiently in a busy grocery store setting Experience with marketing initiatives, merchandising strategies, and promotional activities Demonstrated ability in budgeting, financial reporting, and payroll processing Customer service-oriented mindset with phone etiquette proficiency and strong interpersonal skills Capable of managing time effectively while maintaining attention to detail in administrative tasks such as bookkeeping and inventory control Join us as a Supermarket Manager to lead a team dedicated to delivering outstanding shopping experiences!
